Cold Spring Harbor is a historic village on the North Shore of Long Island, NY. There are so many stories one could tell of the history of Cold Spring Harbor, though the one that seems to define it represents a relatively short span of its chronological record. In the mid 19th Century, Cold Spring Harbor was a whaling town, and much of the town’s architecture was built in that time period, outlasting the palatial “Gatsby” Estates and resorts of the 1920’s. The Cold Spring Harbor High School’s mascot may be the Sea Hawk, but the mascot for the village itself is most certainly the Whale.
